Yes. Items with clasps, springs, stones and other non-metal components will weigh more than the gold they contain. When you weigh at home, you're weighing the whole item. We pay only for the pure metal content after assay testing. For example, a ring with a stone might weigh 5g total, but contain only 4.2g of pure gold. We test and pay on the 4.2g. For the most accurate estimate before we visit, please remove any loose stones if safe to do so, and call us with the gold-only weight.

You request a visit. We agree a date, time and address with you. At the visit we test and weigh your items on certified scales in front of you and make a confirmed written offer. You may accept or decline — if you decline, your items stay with you and nothing is taken away.

Offers are made at the visit and reflect the live market on that day. Investment-grade coins and bullion prices fluctuate — if you wish to decide later, we will re-quote at the market rate on the day you accept.
Payment is made by bank transfer to your nominated UK bank account at the visit, immediately after you accept your offer, subject to your bank's processing times. Cash may be available for smaller amounts (see 10).
You are never obligated to accept an offer. If you decline, your items remain in your possession — nothing is taken away, and there is no charge for the visit.
Because nothing is posted, there is no transit risk: your items remain in your possession throughout the visit and until payment has been confirmed. Our buyers handle items with care; in the unlikely event of damage caused by our testing, we will compensate you at the assessed value.
You warrant that you are the legal owner of all items submitted and have the right to sell them. We reserve the right to decline any sale if we suspect legal or money-laundering concerns.
For items or collections valued over £20,000 we may require additional identity verification and payment is by bank transfer only. We may also arrange the visit with two members of our team.
